TIE Lot in Barcelona - Check the Lot for Your Office

If you have already completed your fingerprint appointment for your TIE card in the province of Barcelona, you can check the status of your lot here. Your lot number is usually shown on the receipt you received after the fingerprint appointment. This document is often called a resguardo. You may also see the number described as lote TIE or lote de Extranjería.

There are many offices in the province of Barcelona, and each office updates its own lots separately. This is why you must select the same office where you completed your fingerprint appointment. The lot in Badalona, Sabadell, Terrassa or another office does not show the progress of the lot in your office.

What is my lot number?

Your resguardo may contain several different numbers, and it is easy to confuse them. To check whether your TIE card is ready, you need to use the correct lot number.

For example, if your resguardo shows something like:

The number after N: is not the lot number. The format of the resguardo may look slightly different, but for the check you need to find the number that corresponds to the lot.

What is the difference between NIE and a TIE card?

NIE is the identification number assigned to a foreign person in Spain. It is a personal number and may appear on different official documents.

A TIE card is the physical card that proves your status as a foreign resident in Spain when it applies to you. Your NIE number is also shown on the TIE card.

NIE and TIE card are therefore not the same. NIE is a number, while the TIE card is a physical document. To check the lot and see whether your card is ready to collect, use the information related to your TIE card.

Do you need an appointment to collect your TIE card?

Not all offices work in the same way. Some offices require an appointment to collect the TIE card, while others may not. Check the resguardo you received after your fingerprint appointment. It normally says whether you need an appointment.

When might your TIE card be ready in Barcelona?

There is no single waiting time for all offices in Barcelona. Each office manages its own lots, so lot numbers may move at very different speeds.

Before travelling to collect your TIE card

For this reason, we recommend not buying tickets, arranging a special trip to collect your TIE card or making significant expenses only because your lot appears as ready. If you need to travel specifically to collect your card, it is better to confirm the information with the relevant office first. The final confirmation is the actual collection of your TIE card.
